Reel Life Wisdom Quote from: The Philadelphia Story (1940) - Tracy Lord (Katherine Hepburn)
People are dynamic beings. We change and adapt over time. For some, this change is unfortunate. Personality and spirit can decay during a streak of disquieting events and/or negative influences. For others, the change over time is great. Years of positive people and free-spiritedness can puts a real snap back into a person's step. Whatever another person experiences, we must accept that they will change over time.
Knowing this to be true, the words of Katherine Hepburn in the 1940 film, 'Philadelphia Story' have never been more important. Having appreciated the folly of her own righteous perspectives, Hepburn's character comes to realize that, "The time to make up your mind about people is never."
As our world polarizes around righteous differences, it seems wise to fight the inclination to make assumptions about any person, race, or creed. We must question most aggressively the assumptions about others that we hold to be most true. Things change. People change. Stay as open as you can to other people's uniqueness. Your lazy assumptions may be maintaining a conflict that no longer exists.
